Ben's Quest is a project within the Suffolk Built and Made programme funded by a Heritage Lottery Fund grant to the Association for Suffolk Museums.  MLA (Museums, Libraries and Archives) East of England provided Learning Links Phase 3 funding to enable two local schools to work with Suffolk Museum's Heritage Learning Officers and volunteers at the Lowestoft Maritime Museum to develop the school's programme for KS2 students and includes the teacher's pack shown above.

Ben Capps is an imaginary nine year old schoolboy whose quest involves tracing his early forebears who, he thinks, lived in Lowestoft. The project comes in an attractively designed A4 folder containing thirty sheets of material including copies of maps and photographs of the town from the 1920's. It involves a wide range of activities associated with the sea and opens a number of exploratory channels to follow including a Seafront Exploratory Walk. The object being to collect information that may be helpful to Ben's Quest, there are many facets to the exploration that take the students through a series of discoveries that make learning easy; the circumstances of each discovery make it easy to remember.
